Week 9 at Telo just ended, and it certainly started on a high note.
I had gotten an invite for a call with my boss while I was at a conference (blog post coming on that soon), but was so busy I only had time to glance at it and acknowledge it in my head, not take a closer look or confirm that I would be going.
So Monday morning my boss text me to make sure I would be available, I said I would, and at 11 we got on a phone call.
He set me up with what was going on in the company and how we are looking to expand. He also explained how one of the sales team is leaving to go back to school, and finished with offering me a full-time job.
There was no pressure for me to accept, and I got the vibe that he still wanted this to be a bit of a trial run before it became official. It would not be all marketing work, I would be taking over some customer service work as well to make up for the lack of a sales team member.
He asked if I would be available to fly down to Puerto Rico to meet the team and learn as much as I could on-site, so I’m flying down one week from today to spend at least one week in Puerto Rico.
I also learned how to wireframe a webpage this week. I had a couple examples to follow, and read a couple blog posts and watched a YouTube video or two and took a stab at it.
Since I was working at the Yacht Club again, my time was quite limited, and I had to do a lot of my work after office hours. I spent a fair amount of my time researching more about technical details I didn’t know much about.
I still have to figure out how best to make what I learn stick with me, because I find it difficult to retain things if I don’t have a good way to put them in action.
All in all, not a bad week!
