I just wrapped up week five as marketing coordinator at Telo. This week was difficult, not gonna lie.
I was asked to help out as a sailing instructor at the yacht club where I worked as a tennis instructor last year because they were short-staffed. I feel oddly accomplished that I’ve worked as both tennis and sailing instructor at the same place, even if one role only lasted about a week.
Anyway, I spent several hours every day at the yacht club, and had to squeeze in my work for Telo in a couple hours in the afternoon, and a couple hours after five. I was exhausted every night.
Communication was a bit difficult again this week, partially because of my limited availability during office hours.
Tasks got switched around quite a bit. I thought we were starting out with the same projects we’d been working on at the end of last week, but a day or two in when I was able to touch base with my co-worker, I learned they’d switched gears. Some of the collateral that had already been published needed to be updated for a sale.
My co-worker had already been through the main document needing updating, but I was able to go in after him and at least doubled the list of edits that needed to be done.
Aside from editing, I also added to the training document we’d been working on, and tried to find information on the different carriers and providers and how they all work together.
I’m interested to see what happens next week. Communication still has to be improved, and it’s hard being the only one not in-office, but I finally feel like I’m building some transferable skills.
