A few days ago I tried to start a daily blogging challenge again. I got to day 3 and then I forgot.
Dang it.
But I know content creation and publishing is important. I’m trying again. If I can’t do it every day, I’m going to do it as many days as I can. I do have way more ideas and my brain makes more interesting connections when I write every day, so I want to encourage more of that.
I also started another, simpler challenge. I think photography is cool, but not something I am super devoted to. I decided I wanted to start playing around with it, just so I can take better photos in general.
“Photographer” is one of the titles people like to give themselves. It’s an art form that everyone has access to these days with our phones, so everyone tries to be one. However, just like every other art form, it requires tons of practice.
I’ve heard that to start out, you should take photos with your phone before moving onto actually expensive equipment. I know the high of getting new and cool equipment can be motivating, but if you actually want to do something for the sake of doing it and getting better, you should be willing to do it with whatever you have on hand. It’s true with writing, I know I get super excited when I get new pens and notebooks, but once that wears away I have to keep writing.
I decided to do a challenge where every day I take an artsy photo of my work station, edit, and post it to Twitter. I think it’d be cool to try to make the same general set-up look new and different every day, and I think it’d be even cooler if I got a new job, relocated, and had a new workstation to take photos of.
