I’m not going to waste your time with a deep, thoughtful, introspective introduction, so let’s just jump right in.
Here are three difficult truths you might not like, but you need to know,.
1. You’re not that special
You’re just not.
There’s always going to be someone who can do whatever you can do, but better. However, there’s also going to be someone who can do whatever you do, but worse. You’re ahead of the game, but you also have a lot of catching up to do. Does that make sense?
2. You can’t control everything
You can only control yourself. You control if you ask other people to do something, but you can’t really control if they actually do it or not. You will exhaust yourself if you try to make everyone do what you want. You will exhaust yourself if you try to control the weather, or traffic, or basically anything that isn’t your own thoughts and actions.
Just remember that when something goes wrong.
3. It’s not always someone else’s fault
Yes, you only control yourself. Sometimes it really is someone else’s fault. Not everything is your fault all the time. But it’s not always someone else’s fault all the time, either. Sometimes it’s no one’s fault. L
You need to be able to recognize when you are the one who messed up. Don’t beat yourself up about it, just acknowledge it, apologize if you need to, and move on.
The truth is… the truth isn’t always easy. Sometimes you need to be reminded of the difficult ones, and sometimes you need to be reminded of the nice ones. Today, I was in the mood to remind you of the difficult ones. I hope that while they may have been bitter going down, they ended up sitting comfortably and perhaps even freed you in some way.
